My client has a vacancy for an Air Quality Consultant to join their team.
ROLE (Responsibilities & Activities) To work in the Environment Industry Advisory Group, to complement a specialist team providing expert services in air quality and noise impact assessment, large EIA projects, PPC permitting and the planning and regulatory regimes.
The main role of this position will be in providing technical input into a variety of air quality related work, including
• Screening and detailed dispersion modeling (DMRB, ISC, Aermod, ADMS and others); • Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and associated consultation and studies; • Industrial emissions assessment and Environmental Permitting; • LAQM Review and Assessment.
The role will include the management of projects, close client liaison, provision of robust advice and support on air quality matters to staff in other Business Lines and to assist in the smooth running and continued successful development of the business in the North West.
Responsibilities Responsibilities will include:
• Delivery of air quality assessments and specialist input to EIAs for a variety of urban development, infrastructure and industrial projects in the UK and overseas. • Dispersion modelling using Aermod and ADMS, screening assessments using DMRB, and other software tools; • Development of monitoring programmes, overseeing and organising data collection and survey work. • Preparation of internal company and external client fee proposals. • Liaison with clients and statutory bodies. • Provision of advice and assistance to other staff within own and other Business Lines; • Contribution to development of the air quality business. • Work towards professional development with training and guidance from line manager. • Remaining up to date with policy and legislative developments in a range of sectors. • Effective application of the company Quality and Environmental Management procedures.
Other Duties
• Carry out any duties which your line manager may reasonably request within the broad parameters of your role.
PROFILE (Competencies) • Excellent numerical and analytical skills • Effective written and verbal communication • Effective personal planning and organising • Ability to deliver projects and tasks to deadlines and budget • Ability to perform in a team and individually • knowledge of LAQM, EIA, Environmental Permitting legislation and assessment
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE (Essential, Desirable) Essential
An Environmental Scientist who can communicate with existing and potential clients in a professional and technically competent manner.
• Minimum BSc (MSc advantageous) in relevant environmental science; • Membership of relevant professional body; • Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines;
Desirable
• Relevant working experience, ideally a consultancy or the private sector • Knowledge of the waste, biomass and renewable sector would be advantageous
