My nuclear client is looking for a Engineering manager to join their team in Reading.
Job/Role Purpose: A key member of the Engineering Team reporting to and supporting the Senior Engineering Manager(s). Responsibility for providing support for managing multi-disciplinary business area and consultancy resources to provide solutions that meet AWE and other defined stakeholders requirements, under the direction of the SEM
Key Responsibilities: Overviewing the developing design and checking compliance with AWE requirements Ensuring appropriate DDA and other stakeholder engagement with the developing design Promoting “right first time” designs which generate minimal Design Review comment Contribute to integrated safety when reviewing engineering designs and ensure that all technical and design risks are identified and appropriately managed to meet project requirements and CDM Regulations Ensuring the engineering configuration to maintain design integrity throughout the project life Co-ordinating as appropriate with other disciplines, departments and suppliers contributing to the project Ensuring that all technical and design risks are identified and appropriately managed to meet project requirements Ensuring design decisions are recorded and auditable through the life of the project Ensuring design information requirements are co-ordinated and communicated to relevant parties Monitoring and reporting to relevant parties the quality of engineering across all disciplines Ensuring value engineering is undertaken in a timely manner Ensuring timely presentation of design documentation for all necessary approvals (including any required from external authorities) and that acquisition of such approvals is achieved to ensure successful project delivery Ensuring company requirements are incorporated into the design process including SQESH Ensuring that designs are compliant with statutory requirements Ensure effective integration of design solutions within the safety case
Experience: Highly desirable to have some relevant experience of design teams with a multidiscipline engineering resource within either conventional or hazardous environments Good technical and management skills including problem solving and decision making Good oral, written and presentational skills with a particular aptitude for report, documentation and letter writing Good interpersonal and communication skills to ensure effective communication to all levels to both internal and external personnel Familiarity with standard office software including word processors, spreadsheets, e-mail, presentations and databases.
