 |
We are currently looking for Engineers across all disciplines to join our clients Facility Engineering department operating across our clients nuclear facilities.
Key accountabilities
•Application of appropriate engineering principles, best practice and know-how in the provision of engineering services and professional advice •Identify technical problems, evaluate options and formulate solutions to achieve satisfactory conclusions •Maintain a working relationship with other internal and external agencies to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Customer and the expectations of the Company •To deliver the activities of the post in a manner that will not compromise the Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards as required by the Policy Statement
Responsibilities
•Take a lead with engineering activities within agreed areas of responsibilities •Provide a safe, economic and effective engineering support service to the customer •Work within the configuration control system and supporting the production and safe retention of necessary records and quality documentation •Implementation of maintenance demonstrations •Evaluate maintenance and effectiveness of maintenance plans and make recommendations as appropriate. Work with maintenance teams to optimise delivery •Contribute, as required, to business cases and option studies and to the design, installation, commissioning and handover of modifications and to new build and decommissioning projects •Ensure that risks associated with engineering activities are assessed and that appropriate checks, controls and precautions are taken •Review, as required, engineering, methods, defects, maintenance faults, non-conformances and problem areas. Use evidence from the reviews to improve effectiveness, reliability, maintainability and economy, leading to continuous improvement •Effectively monitor and implement, as required, the satisfactory resolution of improvement actions •Effectively communicate management and technical issues at presentations, in meetings and by written media •Establish and maintain effective and respectful working relationships with colleagues, customers and other interfacing persons
Qualifications •ONC or City and Guilds with accumulated experience in defined discipline or •HNC/HND or Degree in an Engineering discipline •Preferably working towards Chartered Status
Knowledge •A good knowledge of Safety Management Systems (if possible relating to a nuclear facility) •A good knowledge of engineering principles and best practices •A good knowledge of the functions that provides direct customer service •A basic knowledge of specific policies and practices for planning and administration of budget •A basic knowledge of the planning, organising, monitoring and control projects ensuring sufficient utilisation of technical and administrative resources
Experience •Experience of plant design and operation process, including configuration control and maintenance •Experience of fault finding and utilising and collaborating with other multi-disciplines to provide an acceptable solution •Experience of how to develop or provide input to business case development in support of business decision making •Experience in carrying out design in an engineering environment, from specification through to design selection, including knowledge and ability in related design processes, tools and approaches Skills •Ability to identify problems, evaluate options and formulate solutions taking into account safety, cost benefit, and quality •Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally •A competent level of computer literacy •Interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively, team build and development of staff •Maintain up-to-date knowledge in chosen discipline
