 |
A large Nuclear defence client are looking for a SC or DV cleared Building Services Engineer.
Job/Role Purpose The purpose of this role is to assist with the delivery of mechanical services and heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) elements of the personal protective equipment (PPE) building services contract. This is achieved by undertaking the following activities:
Assist the contractor integration engineer Provide technical guidance to the contractor Assist in meeting building services mechanical and HVAC system requirements Assess technical submissions and answer technical queries from contractors Ensure compliance of contractor submissions with project requirements, design intent and AWE standards and provide guidance to the contractor to achieve compliance Develop factory and site acceptance test criteria for electrical equipment Assess the technical impact of changes to the design Extract relevant information from specifications and standards to instruct the mechanical and electrical (M&E) contractor Attend factory acceptance tests and ensure compliance with the design and relevant standards
Key Accountabilities Warrant that the mechanical building services and HVAC equipment is safe and that sufficient information is provided to substantiate the safety Demonstrate that all relevant system requirements are met by the mechanical building services and HVAC equipment Ensure compliance of mechanical building services and HVAC equipment with statutory requirements, national standards and recognised best practice
Key Responsibilities To ensure that I understand and apply my responsibilities with regard to the Company's Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
Qualifications Degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience) Member of a Professional Institution Knowledge Detailed technical knowledge of sizing and selection of pipework and valves, vacuum, compressed air and chilled water systems, ventilation plant and ductwork, and associated equipment and controls. Awareness of contractual relationships with suppliers and contractors. Knowledge of construction and installation processes through all phases of site works, especially Safe Systems of Work and Work Control procedures.
Experience Previous experience of delivering technical work packages without supervision Strong background in project based engineering Experience of construction and installation works Experience of communicating with contractors Skills Good IT skills including use of office, database and business applications. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and to communicate complex technical information in a concise manner. De-conflicting relationships to identify the most effective solution to challenging problems.
Behaviours Professional, diplomatic and credible manner in dealing with others. Approachable and confident in responding to difficult and sometimes unfamiliar challenges. Independent but able to seek assistance when required and provide guidance to others.
Special Requirements There is an immediate need for this role to fulfil activities requiring DV clearance Able to travel to suppliers' works and stay away from home on occasion. Able to visit construction sites and safely work in environments posing conventional (non-R/A or explosive) hazards.
