Qualifications: Educated with BSc/BEng, and preferably an MSc in Safety. With considerable experience in safety engineering, alongside proven experience in pressurised gas and/or flammable gas industries. The candidate should have the ability to perform updates for operational safety cases to defend them to the regulatory bodies, and have the ability to plan and cost project safety and environmental engineering scopes. The successful candidate must be a self-motivated team player and able to work with minimal supervision.
Main Responsibilities This involves but is not limited to: Identifying and developing project wide design deliverables with familiarity of the interpretation of appropriate national & international industry standards. Preparation of and performing review of design and build documentation for compliance with these regulations, codes and standards – particularly Hazardous Areas (e.g. DSEAR, ATEX). Leading members of the project group in executing engineering hazard management and formal safety assessment tasks in support of build projects, engineering modifications and consultancy studies. Work with project group members to create (FAT) and site acceptance test (SAT) documentation Review and improve control philosophies Chair HAZID, HAZOP and SIL workshops.
EMPLOYEE SPECIFICATION
Have expertise in: Hazardous Areas (ability to prepare HA schedules and drawings is desirable) LOPA Fire and gas detection & control FMEA Reliability Analysis Quantitative Risk Assessment Ability to present internal subject training courses Supervise and liaise with 3rd party contractors as required.
The Candidate requirements include: BSc/BEng MSc in Safety (considered a bonus) HAZOP/HAZID arrangement QRA coordination ALARP demonstrations Ability to perform updates for operational safety cases and support/defend them to regulatory bodies Ability to plan and cost small to large project safety and environmental engineering scopes Proven experience in pressurised gas and/or flammable gas industries (highly desirable) Ability to manage technical meetings, liaise/feedback with other disciplines, project management, client and regulatory authorities, provide advice on various technical safety and environmental engineering subjects Considerable experience in safety engineering
Personal Skills: Must be a self motivated team player and self-sufficient with ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a close knit team A co-operative and helpful attitude to colleagues and clients Excellent management skills
