We are currently looking for Mechanical Design Engineers to work in a nuclear manufacturing facility.
Key accountabilities
To ensure that the designs and product data produced meet the customers technical, manufacturing and safety requirements and is presented, controlled and configured in accordance with company standards The production design layouts, detailed / manufacturing drawing packages and associated Technical Product Specification for weapon projects to meet the technical requirements of the appropriate Warhead or Engineering Design Authority Maintenance of design history The training / mentoring of apprentice / graduate placements on the section
Responsibilities
Primarily to produce design layouts and detailed / manufacturing drawing packages for weapon projects to meet the technical requirements of the appropriate Warhead Design Authority Trident In Service support including supporting trials and processing of modifications Hydrodynamic trials and associated support equipment National Nuclear Security The production of design layouts and detailed / manufacturing drawing packages to meet the technical requirements of the wider engineering community Devise and develop design solutions to meet customer requirements The provision of any calculations and analysis in support of the above Maintenance of design history To support technical reviews and give presentations when necessary Checking to company standards the product data produced by colleagues The training / mentoring of apprentice / graduate placements on the section The training / mentoring of B1 and junior B2 staff if required
Qualifications
Successful completion of an engineering apprenticeship plus HNC or equivalent in mechanical / production engineering The successful completion of an engineering apprenticeship plus ONC or equivalent in mechanical / production engineering plus sufficient acquired experience to demonstrate competence
Knowledge
3D CAD techniques Technical design and manufacturing techniques Knowledge of BS308 / BS8888 MS office applications Word, Excel etc
Experience
Evidence of post apprenticeship experience in a Design Office environment with a demonstrable ability to produce with minimum supervision conceptual design layouts plus detail / manufacturing drawings meeting the latest national and international standards
Skills
Good interpersonal skills and an ability to interact at all levels up to senior manager level Customer support Application of product design standards Computer literate (MS Office suite and UG / TCE ) Understanding of team level technical and programme requirements Presentation skills
