	Job Description
	A large Nuclear Defence client are looking for a Mechanical CAD Designer with DV clearance Job/Role Purpose To support the engineering design activities for the Hydrodynamics Division (HD) projects and other research trials. Key Accountabilities To design experimental hardware and ensure that it is fit for purpose. Provide design engineering input for HD Research Trials using the approved process. To provide professional design engineering advice across HD as required. Ensure compliance with assurance requirements in accordance with policies and management systems relevant to engineering support. Key Responsibilities To provide detail design solutions that support HD research trials. To prepare appropriate documents that can be presented at design reviews. To provide an acceptable level of design configuration baseline that is maintained for experimental operations (including records and drawings as appropriate). Ensure that designs are ALARP, simple and cost effective and can be fielded in a safe manner. Be prepared to liaise with facility, manufacturing and research DA staff as appropriate. Be prepared to liaise with the technical and design authorities for support with modification control and design/technical review process. Ensure that the design meets the required output, to the relevant standards in accordance with a documented plan. Ensure there is an understanding and application of responsibilities with regard to the Company's Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards Qualifications HNC (or equivalent) in engineering subject. Knowledge Safety knowledge relevant to mechanical design CAD knowledge (pref UG) Design of mechanical assemblies in a scientific environment Experience Suitably qualified and experienced in mechanical design Skills Mechanical design engineering Behaviours Behaviour and attitude to work with the company values of One team, Purpose, Achievement, Innovation and Creativity. Special Requirements There is an immediate and ongoing need for this role to fulfil activities requiring DV clearance Medically fit and willing to work in RA and explosives designated areas.
