Our client is currently seeking a Nuclear Safety Engineer who will initially be responsible for providing a design authority view on the consistency of the mechanical design of the NSSS with regards to the safety case.
The successful candidate will act as the intelligent customer for the safety case, through technical oversight during licensing, procurement, manufacture, construction, commissioning and operation. They will understand and eventually own and control the safety case for the plant and technical detail of the plant design, function and performance.
You will develop an understanding of NSSS design, deterministic and probabilistic safety case sufficient to act in the capacity of "intelligent customer". You will be responsible for the work within DIN SEPTEN to assess NSSS specifications.
You will be qualified to degree level and ideally be a Chartered Engineer. You will have experience within nuclear engineering in a nuclear context for example, performing BAT assessments in the selection of materials and systems for LWR reactors, corrosion chemistry, radwaste systems. You will ideally have experience of LWR reactor safety cases although we would be interested in receiving applications from candidates who have been involved in other aspects of safety case work.
French language skills are highly desirable, although training will be given, as is any experience with UK Regulators and PWR systems.
You will have knowledge of the materials aspects of design, manufacturing and commissioning of nuclear pressure vessels and systems and their interaction with the design and safety case. You will also understand the concept with the development or review of PWR safety cases. You will have experience in materials used for manufacture of nuclear components.
As a person you will have excellent influencing skills and be able to work independently and act as an ambassador. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills and understand the needs of quality within nuclear.
Some travel and time away will be necessary to interface with the Architect Engineer and other parts of our clients company.
