Nuclear Verification and Validation Engineering Manager
The IV&V Engineering Manager will assist the IV&V Director in managing the independent verification and validation team for large scale software verification and validation efforts for safety-related control systems at new nuclear plants and digital upgrades at existing nuclear power plants. The IV&V Engineering Manager will lead the IV&V team in various V&V design review and analysis tasks; establishing software/system requirements traceability matrix and performance of requirements tracing; preparation, review, and verification of software integration and system tests including acceptance test documents; preparation, review and release of various V&V reports; and guidance on process change/enhancement activities. The position is responsible for directing the field test manager in the execution of test procedures against safety-related digital I&C software/system requirements; and identifying technical opportunities in such areas as efficiency improvement, quality improvement, cost reduction, and reliability and performance improvement.
Position Responsibilities: Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following: • Responsible for coordinating all engineering activities on Altran’s IV&V Projects. • Provide leadership and build a strong V&V team capable of delivering high quality deliverables to our customers. • Provide daily technical direction and monitor work for compliance with client contracts, IEEE Standard 1012-1998, QA requirements and relevant regulations. • Interface with Project Management on engineering matters as well as budget and schedule preparation. • Maintain schedules of work assigned to sub-sections; monitor and track progress of assigned efforts; follow up to obtain status reports; prepare summaries of project status for review by IV&V Director and Project Manager. • Make key decisions quickly. • Ensure effective communication and coordination within engineering and other project participants. • Take ownership, develop and implement action plans to close gaps identified by Self Assessments, QA Audits, and Management/Customer feedback. • Communicate with customers to ensure timely identification and prompt resolution of issues. • Assist in the preparation of engineering proposals. • 20-30% travel to support project requirements. This travel will also include international travel to China.

Qualifications Required |

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering. PE license or graduate degree is a plus. • Technically proficient in engineering practices and procedures, with over 10 years experience in a leadership role within an engineering organization. • Excellent working knowledge of the principles and practices of organization and management. • Knowledge of codes (i.e., 10 CFR 50 Appendix B), standards (i.e., IEEE Std 1012-1998), and regulations (i.e., RG 1.168-2004) as they relate to V&V work, system design, construction, and testing requirements. • Knowledge of nuclear power plant system design and function. • Knowledge and experience with V&V analysis including requirements tracing, and software/system testing methodologies. • Ability to analyze technical requirements and software/system architectures. • Excellent communication skills that enable dealing with people in a thoughtful and professional manner. • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office. • Background in a Nuclear Power related engineering organization is desirable.
