We are currently looking for an experienced engineer ideally with HFO (Heavy Fuel Oil) Power Station experience to work on an existing Power Plant in Uganda.
Key background • Extensive HFO experience, preferably in baseload power plants • Strong trouble shooting and root cause analysis capabilities • Experience of managing third party contractors and engineers • Ability to adhere to prepare scheduled / unscheduled maintenance expenditure and work within budgetary constraints • Demonstrable ability to improve operational performance, increase availability and reduce costs of plant operation
Key duties Manage • Ensure highest plant availability • Ensure highest plant fuel efficiency • Oversee maintenance • Produce regular concise status reports that proactively flag problems • Interact with CEO
Improve • Assess current team's performance and recommend / introduce changes • Set targets for availability, fuel efficiency, consumables budget • Assess current fuel efficiency monitoring and fuel supply chain and introduce or recommend changes • Audit inventory of spares for immediate and prioritised order of emergency spares and LT minimum level strategy • Assess current procurement and work alongside CEO to develop improved procedures and assist in hiring of new department head • Audit current supplier list and develop relationships with existing and new suppliers in order to achieve optimal supply chain • Assess, revise and cost (based on above) LT (5 year) maintenance strategy • Alongside CEO, develop O&M strategy for plant (including a recommendation whether to outsource and to whom) • Produce comprehensive report at end of contract.
