Our client are currently seeking a strong inspirational and innovative leader to support their achievement of their Nuclear New Build (NNB) targets.
This role will initially be responsible for developing the processes for radiological protection in conjunction with the technical sections of our clients parent company and is critical to the achievement of both a nuclear site licence and future safe and reliable operation.
You will be responsible for developing the future station radiological protection and monitoring strategies and processes by liaising with the appropriate divisions within the company, both existing nuclear and new build team. Ultimately as the NNB team grows, you will be required to manage and motivate a small team of technical staff. They will fulfil an essential role in the support of project targets and the implementation of radiological protection processes for the project and for the successful operation of the stations. The post holder will have key targets for work programmes. The post holder will report directly (initially) to the Operations Manager.
Initially they will be required to work with the project Team to develop NNB processes to ensure that this meets the requirements of the site licence arrangements.
You will be accountable for maintaining clear communications with NII on matters of licensing processes while developing radiological protection strategies and aligned processes. You will support the NNB leadership team in the achievement of all work programmes. This includes forward planning of resources and the provision of a short, medium and long term resource management plan.
You will ensure radiological protection best practices are employed on the commissioning and operational sites, with liaison as necessary with international organisations and the our clients parent company.
You will be degree qualified in a related discipline and have experience within the nuclear industry as an Radiological Protection Advisors or experience and qualifications leading to RPA status. Chemistry and radio chemistry management experience in light water nuclear power plant highly desirable.
You will have a good understanding of quality arrangements required in UK nuclear regulated environment. You will also have good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements. You will have a proven track record in an emergency preparedness environment.
