	Job Description
	We have an exciting opportunity for Safety Case Engineers to join an established consultancy with in the Nuclear industry. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To provide support to Project Managers (PM) and higher grade consultants in technical and project management work and be able to work independently on tasks. Continue to provide support to the Company and line management to enhance experience and knowledge. PERMANENT DUTIES The duties consist of: Technical: Demonstrate technical competence at level two in at least one core knowledge skill area and several other prioritised skill areas. Level one competence in remaining prioritised skill areas; • Be able to solve a variety of scientific and technical problems within procedural guidelines and perform complex scientific and technical calculations and apply basic analytical principles; • With limited supervision, produce technical reports to QA standards that present clear and reasoned arguments with supporting evidence; • Take lead for defined technical work packages in projects and provide deliverables to PM requirements. • Provide support to higher grades; • Provide advice/guidance to junior grades. General: • Provide support to Line Manager (LM) to develop and meet Section or Group Plan; • Provide support to Company management; • Work at client offices; • Demonstrate a pro-active approach to meeting individual deployment target. Project Management: • Provide support to PMs e.g. project monitoring, QA sheets, tracking variations, progress reporting; • Develop, and demonstrate, an understanding of all aspects of Project Management and PM responsibilities. Minimum relevant experience: Three years relevant technical experience; Demonstrable understanding of nuclear sector. CONTINUOUS PROGRESS RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrate ability and evidence experience in all areas of job description; Have a sound understanding of the UK and international nuclear industry and the factors which affect it such as: • International energy requirements and policies; • Government policy; • The health, safety and environmental legislative framework; • Nuclear licensing regimes. • Receive good feedback on all activities; • Progress a Personal Development Plan (PDP) through use of consultant feedback forms REQUIRED QUALITIES • Time management: work productively and efficiently towards defined objectives. Deliver results. Adhere to working procedures and policies. • Communication skills: deliver written and oral communication effectively by considering the needs of others when communicating. Recognise the importance of principles and values and demonstrate this in day-to-day work. Build productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE • Good knowledge of relevant analytical techniques and their applications to problem solving. • Knowledge of the Company Quality and Security Management Systems. • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in engineering, science or related field of study. Equivalent successful work experience or equivalent technical qualification may be substituted for the education required. Also member or equivalent of relevant professional body and working towards Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional status. • Good understanding of the relevant legislation on health and safety and environmental protection and its application to the nuclear industry. • A minimum of three years related work experience.
