 |
Reports to: Principal Safety Engineer, Construction and Commissioning.
Appointed by: Project Assurance Manager
Job / Role Purpose: Reporting to the Principal Safety Engineer (Construction and Commissioning) as part of the Safety Team. Part of a small team responsible for the development and implementation of safety management arrangements on the project, to comply with LC19, LC20 and LC21 arrangements.
Key Accountabilities: Providing advice to project stakeholders, construction, and commissioning personnel on LC19, LC20 and LC21 issues. Produce safety documentation (as required) for significant design changes.
Key Responsibilities: Responsible for delivery of modification safety justifications to agreed timescales and quality, in accordance with AWE processes. Work with other key project management to ensure the project has robust processes and procedures in place; in order to meet all relevant Licence Conditions associated with construction and commissioning the facility. Provision of assurance input into the design verification activities associated with the construction, manufacturing and commissioning phases of the project. Interact at all levels with project personnel and other stakeholders, including regulators. Ensuring the relevant quality requirements for assurance documentation / assessments are met. Ensure the team comply with design change control processes (including making process improvements where warranted).
Qualifications: Degree (or equivalent) in a science based subject preferred. Significant experience in the nuclear industry with at least 2 years experience in the production and implementation of safety cases for the construction and / or commissioning of a high hazard nuclear facility.

Skills: Ability to use Microsoft Office and associated software. Interpersonal skills with the ability to work constructively with people of all levels and disciplines. Good oral, written and presentational skills including ability to produce top-level safety documentation. Ability to plan, manage and schedule work.
Special Requirements: A security clearance will be required. A Security Check (SC) is essential and a Developed Vetting clearance is a significant advantage. |
