Our client, a large engineering consultancy, are looking to appoint x2 Facilities Management Consultants to work on high profile projects across the UK and internationally
Looking to appoint 2 permanent Facilities Management Consultants with strong backgrounds in business development and FM consultancy.
The role will be positioned only in the South West region but the successful candidate will be required to travel extensively and work from home/client sites as and when required and be prepared to travel throughout the South west / Southern / London areas, when required. There will be opportunities to work on local, national and globally based FM projects.
Qualifications required; Broad selection of GCSEs, A-levels including Maths/Science Grades A-C or equivalent. Qualified Route - BEng/BSc in Building Services/Mechanical and Electrical or Environmental. Practical Route – HNC/HND plus relevant appropriate experience. Professional Qualification – Ideally but not essential, with an appropriate institution.
• Previous Consultancy Experience is essential. Candidates need not apply without consultancy experience • Background in design/installation and maintenance of M&E and management of M&E services. • Experience with project management, planning, costing and programming skills, and fee submissions. • Strong understanding of the FM Marketplace, and technical, commercial awareness. • Experience in financial management and budget control of projects. • First rate all round communicator, able to deal will all levels of staff and clients. Particular emphasis on report writing, clear, concise and comprehensible to non-technical people. • Innovative and creative thinking is essential. • An aptitude for problem solving is necessary. • Should be able to adapt well to new skills. • Sound technical judgement. • General attitude must be assertive but not adversarial. • Both individual and team working skills will be required. • Ability to lead and motivate other members of staff. • Must be prepared to travel the UK and overseas. • A high level of commercial awareness is important. • Arup Facilities Management provides specialist advice on all aspects of the aftercare of buildings. • The team is made up of Mechanical and Electrical Services Engineers, who have a strong understanding of both the technical and the consultancy aspects of the job. • With client care at the foremost aspect, this job involves first rate communication skills, and a high level of commitment and motivation. A key component of our service is that it is highly client focused. Understanding the client's needs and responding to these is a critical part of the work. Client contact is regular, and face to face, so skills in these areas are essential. Within the role the work will occasionally be part of a team, although more often will be alone. In either of these circumstances, the suitable candidate will be able to work well under pressure. • Properly interpreting the client brief. • Carrying out the work with or without the help of others from our team. • Completion of the work to the required quality, on time and within fee. • Recognising new opportunities and assisting to win new commissions. • To uphold the Arup standards, ethics and philosophy.
Scope; • Condition surveys on existing building stock, either for owner-occupiers, or as part of due diligence activities related to purchase or PFI. • Preparation of asset registers; maintenance specifications or tenders. • Audit of maintenance contracts. • Advice on maintenance costs and life-cycle costing for DBFO/PFI contracts. • Advice on access for maintenance. • Advice to design teams on future operation and maintenance issues. • Assistance to the occupier with hand over and occupation of new buildings.
Team working; • Internal Colleagues – both junior and senior – often in a team environment. • External Clients – of all types, mainly in face to face contact, usually within the UK although Overseas is also a likely part of the role. • Maintenance Contractors and Equipment Manufacturers – in order to be able to successfully deliver the work. • Work is often completed under tight deadlines. Although remote work can be done, much of the time spent is face to face with clients, in locations all over the UK and occasionally overseas. • Business code of dress is expected, although at times plant room work will dictate more appropriate clothing. • The place of work is the clients premises, sometimes at formal meeting and in the office for report production etc.
