 |
We are currently looking for Safety Case Engineers to join our client within the nuclear sector.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To manage small projects and provide senior level support to other Project Managers (PM) by leading tasks, independently problem solving and mentoring junior consultants. Participate in marketing activities and in ensuring client satisfaction.
The duties consist of: Technical: Demonstrate technical competence at level two in more than one core knowledge skill area and a number of other prioritised skill areas; Be able to solve a variety of scientific and technical problems within procedural guidelines and perform complex scientific and technical calculations and apply basic analytical principles; Produce technical reports to QA standards that present clear and reasoned arguments with supporting evidence; Lead technical discussions and presentation of work to clients and Regulators; Take lead for defined technical work packages in projects and provide deliverables to PM requirements; Carry out coaching of lower grade consultants in partnership with Line Manager (LM); Provide checking to QA standards; Provide support to higher grades; Provide advice/guidance to, and mentor, junior grades.
General: Provide support to LM to develop and meet Section or Group Plan; Provide support to Company management, and if appropriate, take on LM role; Work at client offices; Demonstrate a pro-active approach to meeting individual deployment target.
Project Management: Provide support to PMs including project monitoring, QA sheets, tracking variations, progress reporting; Demonstrate a good understanding of all aspects of project management and PM responsibilities; Act as PM for projects (small) i.e: • Scope work and programme; • Project risk assessment; • Define work packages; • Take responsibility for the development of consultants on a project; • Delegate work packages, where required, to consultants/associates and monitor spend against progress; • Track changes against scope and report progress to Project Director and client; • Ensure appropriate checking and approval of deliverables; • Ensure deliverables are to client satisfaction and complete all QA requirements; • Provide consultant and/or associate feedback.
Minimum relevant experience: Five years relevant technical experience; Three years project management experience, under supervision, successfully completed.
CONTINUOUS PROGRESS RESPONSIBILITIES Demonstrate ability and evidence experience in all areas of job description and other responsibilities. Maintain a good understanding of the UK and international nuclear industry or sector and the factors which affect it such as: • International energy requirements and policies; • Government policy; • The health, safety and environmental legislative framework; • Nuclear licensing regimes. Receive good feedback on all activities;
EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE Extensive knowledge of scientific and engineering principles, theories and concepts and their applications to problem solving. Performing complex scientific and technical calculations and apply basic analytical principles.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in engineering, science or related field of study. Equivalent successful work experience or equivalent technical qualification may be substituted for the education required. Post graduate qualification is desirable.
Also Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional status is preferred.
Experience of managing small projects. A good understanding of the relevant legislation on health and safety and environmental protection and its application to the nuclear industry.
A minimum of five years related work experience.
