Our client is currently seeking an inspirational and innovative leader with experience in turbine commissioning to support the achievement of their Nuclear New Build (NNB) targets.
The successful candidate will be focused on the development of the commissioning arrangements of the turbine and conventional plant areas within the operational development area of the UK EPR project. You will support the licence application, design process and future operations, taking into account best international practice and the requirements of the relevant UK government agencies. You must be able to demonstrate high ethical behaviour, integrity and character.
You will initially develop the commissioning processes and arrangements within the operational development area of our clients UK NNB project liaising with the appropriate divisions within the company both in the UK and abroad, our existing nuclear function as well as the NII.
Ultimately as the NNB team grows, you will be required to manage and motivate a team of technical and clerical staff. They will fulfil an essential role in the support of the turbine and ancillary plant commissioning. In doing this the team will require to be recruited, trained and have a culture of safety, both nuclear and industrial and a motivated approach to the support of construction, commissioning and subsequent safe and effective operation of the plant. The post holder will have key targets for work programmes.
The work may involve some time seconded abroad to gain experience of EPR commissioning experience.
You will be accountable for maintaining clear communications with NII on matters of licensing process as well as developing turbine and ancillary plant commissioning arrangements, processes and procedures. You will support the NNB leadership team in the achievement of all work programmes. This includes forward planning of resources and the provision of a short, medium and long term resource management plan.
You will ensure commissioning best practices are employed on the commissioning and operational sites, where necessary liaising with international bodies and the appropriate departments within our clients company. You will ultimately manage and motivate a team that you have recruited who will be accountable for the delivery of targets in support of New Nuclear Build in the area of commissioning.
You will be degree qualified in a related discipline and have project experience within the nuclear industry. Experience in either nuclear or thermal power and commissioning of major plant is highly desirable.
You will have practical experience of power plant systems commissioning and have a good understanding of quality arrangements required in the UK regulatory environment. As the Lead Engineer you will be involved with budget monitoring and commercial aspects of the NNB project. You will have knowledge of health and safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements.
You will have a proven track record in a process plant operating and commissioning environment
